Amart88 Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 I just installed my 2 Hifonics BRZ2100.1D amps and went to set the gains with the DD-1 and I'm having some trouble. I lost the manual for it to start with. I put the CD in on track 1 to check for HU clipping at the amp. Its a newer kenwood. I turned Bass EQ, and low pass all the way up, did not touch subsonic? and had gains all the way down. On my first amp it took over 20/34 volume just to detect signal. and the other one wont even detect anything at all. I had the HU all the way up and the other amp wont show on the DD1. On the amp that it did detect, i put it to track 3, 40 Hz -5 db and it said detect 40 hz but HU at max vol and gain all the way up it showed little distortion. Even when I could hear the amp buzzing with the gain up too far the dd1 still did not show distortion. The other amp wont show anything. Am i doing somthing wrong? The other Brutus amp seems fine, the power light is on and everything seems to be hooked up properly. The one that will somewhat work with the dd1 is 1 year old and the one that wont is brand new. You said you have the bass EQ all the way up, but when you switch the S/W Mode, there should be a setting for your sub level, try turning that up to get higher voltage. Not sure if it's setup that way with kenwoods, but I know on my Alpine it has to be at +15

My kenwood wont clip 35 of 35, but soon as the sub level gets put to +1 it clips/distorts. Just make sure the sub setting is on, but dont mess with bass levels or sub levels as far as sub stage. I have a kvt-512 and with my sublevel at 0 i'm 99% positive that I could have my amp gains cranked as high as it can go and my subs wont play full go at 35/35....
Amart88 Posted March 18, 2012 Author Report Posted March 18, 2012 Yeah I didnt touch the HU besides to turn DEMO mode off as the batt was disconnected for a few days. Also, why could my DD-1 not be reading anything from one amp? the power light is on, on the amp and it seems fine but no reading from the pos speaker outs even at max gain. What do you guys use for bass amp -5db? Just hoping the amps ok as i just took it out of the box today. I have both amps grounded to the factory ground which i sanded to bare metal. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.
