jrchevy87
i got the battery bank wired up and installed now all i need is the sub and the wires to the amp which will be here in a few days, im starting to get impatient lol Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build
jrchevy87
I got the wiring for my amp in and got everything ran and ready to go, i decided on a sundown sa12 instead of the bl12 because im impatient and i really like the look and performance of sundown subs. That and theyre pretty solid for only a 600 watt rating and 2.5" coil and recones are cheap so if i push it too hard its not that big of a deal. ill have to wait till next week to order the sub but im so close i can already imagine the bass lol. I also decided to scrap my previous amp cover in favor of something with cooling, ill have to draw something up. i was thinking about making a shroud for the amp to direct airflow the best i can but im still not a hundred percent on that idea The wires are a little disorganized but ill clean them up, i still have to run the relay for the lights and fans so dont mind the remote wire . The pictures came out a lot clearer this time so i figured id take some more shots of the battery wiring. The sub wiring is four gauge jacket but more like 6 gauge inside, i dont know if the terminals on the sa12 can fit 6 gauge but im gonna try just cuz a. i can and b. i got it laying around so y not lol Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build

jrchevy87
All the jeep lovers are gonna hate me lol but i plan on dropping it two inches and throwing a set of 18's with some beefy tires on it cuz its hard for our daughter to get in and out and its gonna be even more of a pain when the baby's born to get in and out. Theres nowhere to take it offroading anyway. Im also gonna repaint it, prolly a black base with some candy blue to give it that midnight blue effect and prolly just clear the top, but i dunno i kinda like the flat look just dont know how well it would blend after i repaint it. Im also gonna make some led taillights and flush mount em into the back of the jeep to get rid of those ugly ass brake light pods and im gonna get a better looking set of foglights for the front and maybe a twin snout ram air hood(functional of course, im gonna make an airbox so when the hoods down it only draws fresh air through the snouts) i also gotta change the grill im still not sure how i wanna do it but im not a big fan of the stock grill Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build
bassaholicsfl
Man your gonna ruin that poor jeep lol. Just messing with you man. Im lowering my down to but just taking some lift off of it for better gas mileage. The hard top is hard to choose a color for It will look best color matched or just black with a clearcoat 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab.
jrchevy87
I know i let this thread die but these last few weeks have been hectic. I ordered my sa12 d2 today and i put a flowmaster 3 chamber on there, not sure what series but it was free so im not worried about it, although im keeping my eye open for a 2 chamber as the one thats on there now is a little too quiet, hopefully i can come up with the money for a dd-1 soon so i can post clean clamped numbers and if i can get my hands on a good camera ill get a vid posted as well. the sub will be here in about a week so ill post up preliminary clamp numbers and possibly a vid Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build
jrchevy87
i got my sub in and that is one beefy 12 lol... i installed the sub and its pretty beast for one twelve but im prolly gonna make a new box with the sub up and port back, i think that will help my output. One thing thats weird is when i first put the sub in it would slam 28 hz but after a day of playing it barely hits 30 hz, it still plays everything else the same but it sux that i lost the low lows. I clamped the amp just under 900 watts, its wired at 1 ohm nominal but rises to 2.3 ohms at 40 hz. Hopefully ill be able to afford to get a dd-1 to tune it soon but it gets a little warm after a few songs with heavy bass but the coil doesnt smell. when i can get my hands on a good camera ill post up a video but i dont get too much flex with the jeep being as sturdy as it is but the hardtop flexes like hell.
