TheNewbie
Do you know why the sub blew? Clipping, gains to high ect? Don't want you to get another woofer just to smoke this one too.. I'd rectify the problem first if it wasn't just pushing it to hard. I would assume it blew because it had been used for 11+ years. Skipped the "subwoofer" part and saw MTX just assumed he ment the amp haha. Yeah.. guess it was time I say DC op. blkgp_03
if he was clipping, Im sure that sub wouldn't have held on for 11 years. rogue
Im guessing you want to use another 10 because you plan to reuse the box. If this is the case you may benefit to post the specs of the box (size, port dimensions etc.) if you want good woofer suggestions. HondaChad
Dunno dimensions and stuff of my box, it's a virtual technologies box and it's made with all 3/4 inch wood, my dad told me just about any sub is gonna pound in it simply cause of how well its built and designed, and yes I plan on re-using the box. That1Kid
How do you know the amp was "cut down" to 400 watts? How did you set the gains? And you could be louder if you built a box to the specs of the new woofer you choose. Quote -98' Ford Expedition (Rest in Peace) -AVH-P3300BT -Crescendo BC5500 -4 18" DC m2 Level 3. HondaChad
Dunno, my dad set my gains, and he's been in car audio since before 1986 when he went to nationals I don't use my system as a tool to show off or compete or anything, I just like to have something to listen to, I may be louder if I built another box to a new sub, but I'll stick with the box I have because I don't really want to spend the money or time building a new box, lol =/ Edited March 22, 2012 by HondaChad Quote 1 '12 Massive Audio TORO 124 powered by a Rockford Fosgate Power 500a2 (pushes around 705 watts @ 2ohms) Orion Xtreme 500.4 powering Orion HCCA Competition 6s component set w/ tweeters and MB Quart component set w/ tweeters Kenwood KDC-348U Head Unit

HondaChad
you have a $400 budget for a 400-500w sub? you got a looooot of options $400ish for a 600w+ rms sub, I'm looking at high end fosgate stuff (power) and I'm thinking thats what I'm gonna go with but I'm not sure as Ive also been told about sundown sa's, massive audio toro104's, and DD 3500 10's, I'm going up to a local shop my dad has known the owner for ages later today, and gonna make a decision on what im gonna get him to order me Edited March 22, 2012 by HondaChad Quote 1 '12 Massive Audio TORO 124 powered by a Rockford Fosgate Power 500a2 (pushes around 705 watts @ 2ohms) Orion Xtreme 500.4 powering Orion HCCA Competition 6s component set w/ tweeters and MB Quart component set w/ tweeters Kenwood KDC-348U Head Unit
corey0928
rockfords prime line isn't high end lol. You wont need a dd 3500 for 600 rms, If you were going DD I'd say either the 1500 or maybe 2500 line. Stay away from the massives Sundown you can't go wrong with the sa10. If you set your gains with no clipping you might be able to get away with an e10 as well DC you could get a lvl 2 AA I think has the Chaos for their 600 watt line. Theres seriously an endless amount of woofers you could get that would be perfectly fine.
