WICK3DxGATA
okay so i got some new subs and amp cheap i couldnt pass up the deal. but i need help on how i should wire them. so i got 2 of the new p3 12s http://www.rockfordf...x?itemid=120421 and this amp http://www.rockfordf...x?itemid=116138 the subs will be in a custom built down fire ported enclosure for underneath the back seat of my silverado. its not a regular box before any one says i need a bigger box. this box is huge about 1.8 cubic feet for each side. so if i could just get some feedback on the best way to wires these it would really help. Toby Ratcliffe
well unfortunately with two dual 2 ohms subs your wiring options are limited to .5 ohm, 2 ohms, or 8 ohms. Taking into account impedance rise you might be able to get away with .5 ohms on that amp. If it goes into protect, you will need to wire it to 2 ohms. to get .5 ohms, wire it in series, by connecting all of the positives together and the negative together, and then to the amp. to get 2 ohms, you need to wire it in a series parallel configuration by jumping a positive and negative on each sub, and then connecting the remaining positive, and negatives to the amp output. WICK3DxGATA
well would it be better if i traded the two ohms in to get the 4 ohms? WICK3DxGATA
i also have this amp laying around would it be better to use with the 2 ohm subs its the 1200 mono block http://www.mtx.com/m...fiers/show.html Edited March 23, 2012 by WICK3DxGATA Quote 99 Gmc sierra extended cab front speakers: DB drive 6.5 back speakers: DB drive 6.5 amp: none right not subs: none right now Future waiting to get my 2 skar vvw 8s installed
Joe X
i also have this amp laying around would it be better to use with the 2 ohm subs its the 1200 mono block http://www.mtx.com/m...fiers/show.html That would give 400W RMS to each sub at 2 Ohm. CleanSierra
well would it be better if i traded the two ohms in to get the 4 ohms? Yes, trade them in and get dual 4s. DONNNNNNT wire that amp at .5 ohms, it'll go into protect. Dual 4s will wire for a final ohm load of 1 ohm and will get the most power of that amp. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Toby Ratcliffe
If you could trade them in for dual 4s, that is the route I would go as well.
