Building my second box this weekend...

Well the first box I ever built was for a friend and the box was sealed and too small and it was a disaster. I now have an awesome design thanks too 412 CVX. So I was just wondering if I could get some suggestions like:

What type of screws

is Silicone caulk ok to seal the inside?

Best method to connect the subs? (bolts, terminals, ect.)

And thats all I can think of so far so any other type of suggestions would be very helpful!! Thanks in advance.

I also am building a box soon as well. For ME i use 1.5 framing screws with square heads, cheapest caulking i can find, and i run threaded rod through the box. I may for this build do direct wires from subs to the amp and caulk around the wire to seal it off. Less breaks = more power (not that i will notice).

If you use enough wood glue when connecting the joints, you won't need caulking.

if you take your time and build the box properly you should not have to worry about using caulk to seal it

take the time sand all your mdf before you put on generous coat of wood glue screw er in wait for glue to dry and done

Really? I thought it was necessary to caulk as an added precaution.

I would defiantly caulk, or better yet resin the whole inside.

Yeah I may do it, not sure yet. Any suggestions on how to do the terminals? Someone on here did a push-pin style terminal on both side of the box and it looked awesome, I cant find the thread but I would love to do that.

Bolts or Wire out the port I say on the terminals.. The cheap plastic insert ones like the ones that come on prefab boxes tend to leak air.

Yeah, I do NOT want to do those at all. Im searching on google now trying to find those push connectors, the way the guy did it on here looked really cool, I just cant seem to find JUST the connectors without them already being in one of those cheap plastic ones.
