Ported or bandpass

I wanna know what would be better for four mb quart onyx 12's bandpass or ported?

how much space you have

and how you plant to build it and place it

Possibly in a ford bronco but that could change, i would be using 2 mb quart 1.1500's to power them space isn't really an issue, but i don't want to wall and i would like sound quality more than i want spl.

Ported will be way easier to build, most high end SQ speakers use ported enclosures so you should not be concerned them giving bad sound and you will end up with a smaller box. Many bandpass builds end up in failure and very few ported.

-Proper Ported > shitty built bandpass (or a prefab bandpass)

-Proper bandpass > shitty ported

All things being equal (meaning properly calculated and built enclosure)

if your EBP < 50 go 4th order bandpass

if your EBP > 50 go ported

Basic rules of thumb. If it matters, my sub has a EBP of 42 but it's in a WELL BUILT ported box and sounds great. Not bragging so much but truthfully it's all in how well you engineer and build your box.

My bad.

EBP is a quick equasion that tells you what your sub is better suited for, ported or sealed.

you can also use it to tell you the best between 4th order or 6th order bandpass.
