El_Wetto Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 I'm not really experiencing the typical "lights dimming" stuff, but my amp is getting exceptionally hot after small periods of time. My setup includes Power: alpine mrp-1000 alpine f-300 HU: kenwood excellon kdc x395 Wire: Rockford 4 Gauge Power & Ground (m1000) stinger 8 gauge from amp to sub Sub: Rockford Fosgate T2 12 D4 in Rockford designed H.O. slot ported enclosure no big three but im running a duralast gold top which has been pretty faithful to me im just wondering basically if a capacitor would help with the heat issue.

XS Power, Kinetic, even a Optima yellow top if you have to. Capacitors will tax your alt to no end. It will make it die a slow, torturous death. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.

Quiet Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Yeah, you need more fusing. What amps are you running and what gauge and brand of wire? Could be a bad ground but if you haven't done the big 3 you got work to do. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
