Herokight Posted April 17, 2012 Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 I apologize to Mr. Meade or anyone else in advance if this wasn't quite the place to put this, but it looks like junk so I figured it belonged in the junk drawer. Ever get bored and just decide to do something really stupid? Story of my life so far. I was using these speakers with my laptop plugged into the stereo you see in the background when they decided to crap out. Probably because they kinda sucked anyway, and I played some Skrillex with a massive bass drop, which they didn't take so well. What do you do when the sound from your laptop is crap and you have extra speakers around? This. Two 6.5 Sony Xplods from my old car in the cardbox my new 6x9s came in. Too broke for mdf right now. I threw my back out and was kinda looking foor something to do anyway, since I've been sitting around taking it easy for days. Sealed it up nice with some left over caulk, and duct taped to make sure. They "baffle" wasn't so secure and it flexed alot, so I added extra cardboard here and there and it's doesn't really flex anymore. Even measured it, did the math, and ported it to 32hz with a paper towel roll. And I should probably stop doing this, or I'll be stuck with laptop speakers again. Boredom at it's finest. Good thing those speakers work and I don't have to send them back or anything. Lol. Every time I play 32hz I smell something that can't be good, so I think I'm gonna stop that. It's just an expression to me. Although, I'm sure some kid somewhere is sitting behind his keyboard laughing at me. Meh. Doesn't affect me. Creativity comes in handy though. My company laptop sounds ok ... just dont crank the volume up and tear it up, cause they might try and make me pay for it ...
