mttornquist
So I'm fairly new to the car audio world and am looking to build my first system, but I need some advice with equipment and such. My car is a 2007 corolla and I am a 16 year old teen working a job to save money for this system. I can't really afford to be buying new parts all the time so I'd like to get it right the first time! I'm not interested in being loud per say, more so as having good sound quality. But loud would be a nice positive! First is the head unit: http://www.audiosavi.../PTID-3600.aspx I chose this one because it had a built in monitor on a single dash HU. I have heard bad reviews about power acoustik's speakers but couldn't find much information on their head units. Is this a good buy? Then the amp: http://www.sonicelec...1000.5-F1A.html I would rather buy a 5 channel amp then a 4 channel and a mono because it seems to be cheaper that way. Do FLI amps do what they are rated? are there any suggestions of other amps similar in price range that would perform better? The front speakers I have two options: http://www.sonicelec...U6COMP-F1A.html http://www.sonicelec...ik-CPT-60C.html I am looking for a component system for the front rather than just 2 or 3 way speakers. What do people have to say about these? Rear: http://www.sonicelec...d-FU69-F1A.html Not really sure about these so all suggestions welcome! For the sub I am thinking a sealed box for the cleaner crisper sound as well as saving space in the trunk. Here's what I'm looking at: http://www.sonicelec...d-FU10-F1A.html As far as other upgrades I am planning on doing the big 3 in all 1/0 gauge. I shouldn't need any other electrical system upgrades to run this small of a system should I? So, what do you guys think will this system give me the sound quality I am looking for? Thanks in advance! Quote My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...lmost-complete/
Nikitaaa
Ditch the crap and save up for some reputable equipment man. You're going to end up buying all that garbage then hating it because it sounds like shit. I know you're trying to sound good on a budget but save for a while. Trust me, you will regret buying this stuff a short period of time. Look in the for sale section of this forum and you will come across a ton of reputable speakers and amps. Stay, learn save, and do your research and you should a pretty nice system. Landon75
Wait, you want a 5 channel to hook up your mids/highs and sub? Idk if that is what you meant but I'm pretty sure you can't do that. Your going to have to get a mono for the sub and a 4 channel for the mids/highs. Otherwise your gunna be sending mid/high frequencies to your sub or vice versa, and you probably won't get enough power from a budget 5 channel to power the sub properly. For the headunit stick to kenwood excelon series, pioneer, or alpine. They are all decent units it just comes down to your preference of options given. Ex. Color, USB, line in, Bluetooth, Pandora ect.. EDIT: like someone said, you get what you pay for. Don't expect a loud good sounding crisp awesome sub for $40. Check out the vendors on here they offer subs you might like, and be in your price range. Edited April 18, 2012 by Landon75
Lost Legacy
^^I believe that is the point of a 5channel, to run a full system (subwoofer included) But OP as the others said, save for some decent gear, well worth it Quote Honda Accord SirT + Mad sounds = Awesomeness VTEC go BRAAAAAPPPP http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141261-99-accord-sirt-sq-build/ Alright well i never done the big 3 so i see in my vision my truck on fire... Ive seen some prices on some 5 channels, and they get pretty pricey quick. But in the end it's up to him, it's his build.
mttornquist
I found a pair of Rockford T1652-S in the for sale section for a good price. Would they be a good choice for sound quality? RooTxBeeR
Yes they are pretty good speakers. I am going to be getting those and the T1639 for the back in my car. Like previously stated, research and save man. I have been designing a system on paper for over 2 years now, It is going to cost around 3k give or take a few hundred. But that is going to be a solid amazing build if I take the time to make sure everything is right. That is also in might of trying to be pretty loud. If your more interested in just having some nice bump a single 15 or 12 would do good.
