So for everyone wondering how I plan to fit them all in, im thinking something along the lines of this...

With a removable rear port piece to try out different port sizes. Will be making/buying a few different big flared round ports. This one is a 10inch diameter tuned to 25hz I believe.

I just don't see how that design is able to work with the rear port pretty much firing straight out the front port. I would think that the best 6th design would be one in which the wave has more time to develop in the front ported chamber. I am still trying to wrap my head around a 6th and it's very confusing at best. So many folks have vastly different opinions with regards to what works and doesn't work in a 6th.

Yeah I'm also wondering if that will be ok with the rear port directly into the front port. There doesn't seem to be much opportunity for it to actually load off the front wall.

I've never built, tried, or designed a 6th order tho so if you are confident in the design it looks good.

You want the waves off of the woofer cones to load and have time to develop but the port? Not so much.

Just a summation to the comments on the design. Believe it or not, it should actually work out really well. Plenty of very successful 6th orders built this way that do 160+ on music. I'm not sure where the myth came from that you need to have your rear port "loading" off of anything, but I used to think that too!

After talking with some real smart people in regards to 6th orders and learning from the 6ths I've built, i found out that really isnt the case. Loading your rear port off of something will lower its real world tuning but it isnt required if the design incorporates that aspect from the beginning(I.e. tuning the rear port lower to begin with).

By firing directly into the front port opening my theory is that it will be more efficient. Thinking about this intuitively, how is blocking and disrupting direct airflow into the cabin from a port going to help? When playing for example, 20hz, the rear port is the primary part of the enclosure responsible for output, why would I want to block it with a wall?

edit: The front port/chamber does help with these lower frequencies too as does the rear with the highs but it is due to the subwoofers loading and agitating the air space, not the ports....if that makes sense
