Project Budget Golf: Over 150DB at 25hz.

Recommended Posts

I, like many of you, am sh*t with money.

before now i have tried 18's, 15's, 12's, 10's and even 8's and ive always liked 12's.

My old car was decked out ready for 4 18's, but as i said, 18's cost money... which i dont do.

The ''new'' car is a 3 door version of this

(Dont have a pic of my own car)

Its a mk3 golf 1.9TDI, i can get about 450-500 miles to a tank of fuel so it costs me a grand total of f*ck all to run.

After chatting with multiple people and audiophiles i decided to go for 12's as i could aquire them slowly and keep the cost down.

I plan on making a youtube video log of this and not bullsh*tting about how much i paid, lots of people are put off big builds by the costs involved.

So first things first, the subs.

They are JBL gt5 12's, no, its not DC, its not AA, its not FI, but i got ALL 12 of these for £210 ($338.)

Some need work, the surrounds have come loose but get some serious glue and they wont come undone!

Others need a cleanup and the tinsel leads sorting but a bit of patience and a few pounds and we'll be good as gold.

They are rated at 275wrms each i think but that means nothing, theyll be getting double that.

I also got these, they bring the car down a little bit and are stronger to cope with the weight, which shouldnt be all that much.

As this isn't part of the system i wont include it in the costs as the existing springs and shocks are f*cked!!

Stay tuned kids!
