jdmbb95 Posted December 21, 2007 Report Share Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) i just bought myself a early b-day present my b-day is on dec 25th. its new HT system i bought it all from Fry's Electronics today. i bought 4x Polk Audio R50 towers a Sony 5.1 DTS receiver. i already have a B&W center speaker with 2x 5 1/4" and 1" tweeter i just need to get a good sub and im set. tell me what you guys think. I remember going without my room setup for a month, I finally got tired of using only headphones and set my speakers up on my top bunk.... Now it's a cleaner setup... I'm only running 2.1 =] That also reminds me, I need to get my ass over to Subway sometime today if possible. But you should try to get a matching center channel speaker.Your system will not sound right.The left & right might sound "bright" and the center won't match that sound.Use the test tone on the receiver & you'll know what I mean. Yea my neighbors feel the same, but my 7.1 is more important then them I have it set up in the basement so it is not so bad from outside. But you should try to get a matching center channel speaker.Your system will not sound right.The left & right might sound "bright" and the center won't match that sound.Use the test tone on the receiver & you'll know what I mean. you dont have to have ur center matching the l/r's i actually prefer a center with silk dome tweeters in it for smoother sound on voices and stuff in movies. and a titanium tweeter for the l/r speakers. thats the way it was in my bedroom before i went in wall/in ceiling but then again its all personal preference. i mean one thing could sound great to you and it sound like shit to me you know. nice setup btw i like polks stuff. but i dont like the sony reciever.
