The sub getting warm is a side effect of normal operation and should be expected. If your woofer gets blazing hot, so hot you can't touch it or it smells that is not normal and you should adjust your gains to avoid clipping or only play in short burts and allow the equipment to cool before causing damage.

I doubt it's the box at all. IMO its probably your amp. Giving it a clipped signal gets it warm pretty fast. How big is your amp? Chances are your really trying to push that sub (skars love power) and your pushing your amp to clipping.

Power=heat. It's a misconception that clipping is the cause of warm woofers.

Kay, lemme rephrase that. Its a misconception that clipping is the ONLY cause of warm woofers,

Well that's why companies incorporate cooling into the motor so it can handle more power do it will most likely get warm as drew (noobtastic) said

But it shouldn't get really hot. That would be caused by box error (which is pretty much ruled out for this situation) or clipping which creates unnecessary heat and more than the vc can handle=blown

I've gotten a blowjob and picked up my iphone behind her back to see what email notification I got from smd before
