Changed valve springs and shimmed to the correct height. The springs that came with the heads were not strong enough.

Even after reading that article you posted, i would have went with a little bit bigger carb, but that's just me. I'm running a 850 speed demon on a built 388 stroker motor. Of course mine is built for 3500-7000 rpms. I used to run a 327 tho that only had 275-300 horsepower that did good with a 625 cfm carb.

Motor and front of the car is looking great btw!!

what are the specs on the cam? why not go with a 750 cfm carb?

I thought the same thing, rpm air gap, Brodix heads and voodoo cam and 600cfm carb? Seems small for that combo. I would try a 650 double pumper at the least. If that cam is big, your gonna be short on vacumn to operate the secondaries. If I get a cam any bigger then .500" lift, I got to a mechanical secondary. And also Horsepower on spike tv compared on the Dyno dual plane and single plane manifolds. For street duty the dual plane is the way to go. The single plane lost horsepower on the same engine.

Glw your project, looks good.

Just a FYI on a couple things.

Carb is enough. 6000+ RPMs is no problem and it runs AWESOME.

Motor is coming back out tomorrow. Stupid oil pan leak and the pan will not come off without pulling the motor.

Well the oil pan leak lead to me learning that the rear cam bearing was not in all the way. Lucky for me I decided to pull the motor and fix the leak. It would have been scrap metal in another couple of hours of running time. As it was, still had to replace all bearings, turn the crank, and pull it totally apart for a complete cleaning.

But she finally lives!!!
