All of those are horrible. 99% chance you will have problems.

You can always upgrade to an SSD later. That has true triple channel memory.

You'll pay for it, but you get what you pay for.

I've owned two alienware laptops, and one XPS. They litterally have had EVERY PART REPLACED in them during the warranty period. Please dont do that to yourself.

That's because alien ware is just a fancy dell. Cooling problems and all. I'll be honest Ive had three Lenovo now. I beat them up andthey haven't even hi cupped. Well except gay pgp but that's another story. The t420 is a nice machine but its definitely not something I'd want to watch movies on. The display is very mediocre.

See, the thing is, I see most of these laptops on the scale of 2,000-5,000 at a time. Dell/HP/and IBM. The company that I work for purchases about that much a year. We get to try them all, from thinkpads, to the newest dells. The only one that has sent a decent demo unit from the big three is HP. Even then it just crashed *less* than the others. In case you're wondering if I configured it correctly, I make the Windows 7 install for about 250,000 machines worldwide.

Sorry I sound like I'm braging, but I get annoyed when people dont listen to me, Im guessing it stems from starting in computers so young. I'm trying to save you some headaches.

Well speaking of dell's, Our house has personally owned 5 of them, and I wont go back to one ever again.

I've had to replace so many parts on them its crazy, and so many sets of hinges!!!

Why are you limited to lenovo's or dell's?

My brother just bought a Acer from Newegg and it is amazing, games play very well, it has the I5 in it and 8gb of memory, dedicated card etc. My wife has the asus same spec's and hers has onboard video. Not the greatest at games but the battery life is amazing on it.

alienware is a branch of dell.

and hp has bios issues out the ass. 2009 model, and a 2011 model, ive never suggested it to a client again. (you can live through it, its just a bios hang, but annoying none the less)

my honest opinion, if you can. is get an asus laptop.

if your just going for internet browsing AND NO GAMING, look into an ULTRABOOK. (not a netbook)

and i also suggest waiting quite a bit longer. intel has stated that the screen resolutions will be getting upped into the new ipad 3 region for ultrabooks and laptops. (2048x1536)

also look for a 15.6" laptop.

just whatever you do.. dont do a god damn dell or a hp.

ultrabooks have millions times more battery life at a fraction of the cost and weight, AND size.

the thing that it lacks, is performance. this however, is in gaming only. IF you get the generation 2 OR 3 intel processors, nothing will matter.

just remember, if you buy a LAPTOP, after about a month, and this is of PERFECT USAGE. you will be down to about an hour, hour 30 mins before the battery dies.

ultra books are about 6 hours or so.

again, i would wait. the ultrabook market probably early 2013 is going to explode, and you will not regret doing it.
