See, the thing is, I see most of these laptops on the scale of 2,000-5,000 at a time. Dell/HP/and IBM. The company that I work for purchases about that much a year. We get to try them all, from thinkpads, to the newest dells. The only one that has sent a decent demo unit from the big three is HP. Even then it just crashed *less* than the others. In case you're wondering if I configured it correctly, I make the Windows 7 install for about 250,000 machines worldwide.

Sorry I sound like I'm braging, but I get annoyed when people dont listen to me, Im guessing it stems from starting in computers so young. I'm trying to save you some headaches.

Just an fyi you're not the only it guy here lol. When you see a high volume and not to mention the idiots who used them and what they put them through you will see some strange stuff. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with end users anymore. That's a nightmare

Oh I know, I dont presume to be, I just know I'm really good at my job. I love doing it. Its just been hard for me, and I take offence quickly because I was also quickly dismissed as a 19 year old kid who "didnt know shit" as I was told many times. No offense to the OP, or other IT guys, it just rubs me the wrong way. I love what I do, and would do it even if I wasnt getting paid. I just dont know too may other people who work on a global scale.

Well speaking of dell's, Our house has personally owned 5 of them, and I wont go back to one ever again.

I've had to replace so many parts on them its crazy, and so many sets of hinges!!!

Why are you limited to lenovo's or dell's?

My brother just bought a Acer from Newegg and it is amazing, games play very well, it has the I5 in it and 8gb of memory, dedicated card etc. My wife has the asus same spec's and hers has onboard video. Not the greatest at games but the battery life is amazing on it.

Agree, Acer is doing well, they had a monitor fiasco about a year ago, but it was corrected. Gateway is also very, very stable now and make amazing laptops at a low cost because they're trying to get back into the game. Asus (which I linked) also makes good laptops for the money because they're trying to muscle out the big 3 (IBM/HP?DELL)

I own my own IT company, it's always what I've done for a living. I've always owned IBM/Lenovo laptops and won't sell anything else to my customers. The build quality, batteries, reliability, and support from Lenovo is completely unmatched. Hell, I'm typing this out on an eight-year-old ThinkPad right now. I'd personally go with either of those Lenovos unless you only need a computer for about 2-3 years and plan on replacing it, and I'm not nuthugging, this opinion comes from many years of experience. When I sell Lenovo machines, they never come back to my shop, they just work- pretty much forever.

I'm gonna hate

Take a look at a ThinkPad W520, it's what I have for work. Monster of a laptop, totally indestructible, best screen in the industry (with 1080P option that kicks-ass for movies). It looks very clean and professional in person, but I like the simple looks of the ThinkPad like I prefer old-school amps, maybe I'm just weird though.

I'm gonna hate
