I was staying at my aunts house in the Pradera Country Club area. Is that the Pinery? Im not familiar with CO that is the first time I really been up there LOL

Edit: but I plan on visiting more often now. I will definitely let you know when I do

I remembered your FB post stated a location of "the pinery"...

Looks like its just west of the main Pinery development but yeah, the same general area.

For sure, hit me up. Always down to meet up and BS.

Maybe I'll have my damn 360 working by then... :drinks:

Hey Wicks, if you're looking for an affordable & powerful DSP, you might want to consider this product. I've recently heard about it from these SQ threads over at "CruzeTalk". The guy that recommends it seems quite knowledgeable.

Ahh yes, the miniDSP. There's a guy in CO that uses it and promotes it quite a bit.

For my needs, I think I would need the 4x10 since I need a digital input and 8 RCA outputs so I can run all my speakers active.

Looks like they have an option for a master volume control too which I would need (music source is an iPad Mini).

I'll have to look into that more, good suggestion.

I like tinkering with ideas like this...

:good:

Hey buddy! Long time! So I was coincidentally looking at those too. I was told that the master volume on them, if you're considering the VOL-FP is only on about a 6" pig tail and I've not gotten a straight answer on whether or not it's extendable. They're made to go in a project box is what I was told. I'd imagine some powering issues would arise if extended too far, much like when I tried to extend the face of that alpine deck. I was looking to extend it about 8-10' but like i said, no answers from anyone on it, at least solid definitive ones anyway and I didn't want to buy one and have that not work. I'm sure I could come up with a way to make it work, but I haven't gotten that far yet. SO if you do get it, and want to test that out, please let me know. That's the only thing holding me up from picking one of these up! I was looking for 10 or even 12 channels for mine and the 4x10 is exactly what I need.

Congrats on the house! I love my shop on the side of my house, but I'd much rather have the 3 car garage. Everything right there, and if it's raining you can just work on the car in the garage while still having the shop set up right there. Great choice my friend!

What up Scooter! :good:

Thanks Dude, pretty stoked to get this garage pumpin'!

Yeah I looked into the 4x10 more...

It's rack mounted so it's not tall but LONGGG. I have no room in my trunk for a whole rack-mount unit.

Plus the remote is rather wide too so I'd have no ideal place to mount it, especially if there's cable length issues.

....back to the drawing board.

:o

Good to hear from ya man, have a great Xmas! :drinks:

If I figure something out I'll for sure let ya know.

  • 1 month later...

Had an issue last week that's worth noting.

After leaving work, I started my car and noticed a "groaning" sound under the hood. I also noticed that my voltage was still at battery resting level (~12.5V or so).

Looked under the hood and didn't see anything obvious. Belt was still spinning.

Above 2k rpm and the voltage would jump up to the 14V level.

So I drove the car home as soon as possible in case the alternator wanted to seize and smoke the serpentine belt.

Got home ok.

Had to drive my R1 to work the rest of the week so that I wouldn't get stuck with the car somewhere.

Not fun as it was in the high 30's / low 40's in the mornings....made for some chilly motorcycle riding. :shok:

With all the home renovations and all, I couldn't get to the car until Sunday morning....yes SuperBowl Sunday morning.

So I rushed to rip out the Mechman and install the stock alternator so that I could drive the car to work on Monday since the bike was no longer an option due to the even colder temps and snow on the ground.

As I've previously mentioned....its a BITCH to get the alternator in and out of this engine bay..........but I got it.

Put in the stock alternator, started the car and the voltage worked fine. So it did look like the Mechman had an issue.

Got a chance to pop the back cover off of the Mechman and found this...

:o

Notice the melted solder on the left coil winding / diode interface:

812mechmanburn-labels_zps3428b1a7.jpg

Then even better:

YIKES

811-mechmanburn_zps10c8aae5.jpg

Measuring with a multimeter, 6 of the 12 rectifying diodes are shorted.

Which most likely explains the melted connections at the interface between the windings and the diodes.

Question now is why did the diodes short? Hmmm.

I've had issues with the 360.3 remote knob so I haven't turned the system up much at all in the past few months so I know for damn sure that I haven't been overworking the alternator. Batteries haven't been drained much either.

I have an RMA submitted to Mechman so I'll box it up and send it in for repair and see what they say...

Anybody else see similar issues?
