Battery or alternator upgrade?

So I haven't even got all my speakers hooked up and my lights are already dimming. I'm getting a solid 1 volt drop when I get a good bass note.

So do I need to upgrade the battery or the alternator? I'm thinking battery. I've already done the big 3 with 1/0 wire and I'm running around 750rms right now. Thanks for the input.

what does your stocker put out? But a good AGM may be what you need but if you have too many accessories the stock alt may not be able to keep up with demand even with Big 3.

I would get an High output alt. Then a second battery. Im running 2 rockford fosgate t1500bd at 2 ohms rated according to there birth certs (which I dont go by but I have not tested them yet.) But, that said it can do at 2 ohms 1,850 continuously. I did a 220amp H/O alt and a second battery. Did that when I was just doing 1,800 rms. The H/O alt I would do first.

your vehicle can suck up at least 40a with all of your accessories on at one time... adding another batt will give you more "reserve time" but once that battery is drained the Alt will have to pick up the slack AND charge your batteries....

if your straining a stock alt with 750rms then id get a decent alternator and worry about batteries later... or at the very least get a decent deep cycle upfront and see what that does...( try to find a cheap optima deep cycle locally)

also depending on your vehicle you can "upgrade" your alternator with a bigger unit that can bolt up to your factory bracket while keeping cost down rather than buying a cheap rebuilt brand or even worse a ebay alt

Thanks for the input guys. The Trailblazer SS has a weak electrical system from the factory. So it sounds like I need to upgrade both, with the alternator being first.

my question if i put a xs 1200 battery up front with big 3 all 0awg will i be ok ? thanx for the help

I got the the battery first.. and I knew that my next step for the system is alt - which I got today.. since I installed it I wasnt listening it when my car was off at all , and I tried to dont drop the voltage below 14 ..
