TeamMC Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Hey every one, i am in the process picking new door speakers for my grand chereokee. I am running a rockford punch amp i think its the 400a4, its like 100w at 4 ohms. I had the polk db 651 but they blew up so i am looking at the polk mm series. I guess my main question is will it be ok to run componets up front and coaxiles in the rear? Also has any one had any expriences with this speaker? I have only heard good things about the mm and just want your opinion or your other recomendations. Thanks
b-dubs89 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 that would be ok i have done that many times . no experience with the mm's , that line looks some what promising . I've had alpine, jl audio, and pioneer mids and highs and i am still searching for some speakers that i truly love . i got some cerwin vega's in my house and i like the mids and highs of them alot , kind of curious about their car audio line .
Skullz Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 The polks are very close to what the jbl's are and should sound really good along with taking power very well. I had the MM691's and enjoyed them alot but make no mistake it will take time for the tweeters to mellow out though, they're not harsh or anything but just very loud and clear and take some time to break in and tone down. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
b-dubs89 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 might be that to get a really good sound it takes more than 1 set of decent speakers for the front
alenv10 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 selenium 6w4p, try those out! it says 6" but they are 6.5" monster mids NOTHING DOWN HERE YET OBSIDIAN FTW

If you have the room. They have huge magnets! Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
teamace24 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Been in your position before and also tried many of the brands you listed but none really wowed me since i was looking more for loudness to keep up with my bass. Until i purchased the jbl power 6.5 components i think the model number is something like p662 or something but those were by far the loudest and cleanest i have owned. Never been a fan of polk audio speakers since the ones i have owned have always needed a shit load of power to get loud. Get the jbls run them off 2 channels then run your coaxials on the other two channels. or even better get two sets of components all ran on the amplifier. 1st Setup(SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 Audioque SDC2.5 15 subs8.7 cubes at 37hz build DONEAudioque 1200d (Audioque 1200d Sold, similar performance to my ap1500)Diamond Audio Hex 6.5 Mids n TweetsCerwin Vega Exl 400 4 channel Bridged(also have MTX 4004 not being used)1 Run of power Knu Fleks 4 Gauge2 Cheap stock Battery setup2nd Setup (SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 15 Kicker cvx (maybe two SA 15 in future)7 cubes net tuned at 34hzAlphasonik Old school 1600rms (ap 1500d sold GREAT Budget amp)JBL 6.5 Power Series Components, Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 ways, and 2 Kicker KS Tweets (LOUD)Cerwin vega exl4001 run knu Fleks OFC 0 gaugeBig 3 done1 Odyssey 1500, 1 optima yellow top d31

Is there a major advantage running 2 sets of components over 1 componet and 1 coaixle? i thought about doing 2 sets of components but i would get the polk db 6501 instead of the mms due to the price.
