Sutliff Posted July 12, 2013 Author Report Posted July 12, 2013 interesting , would love to hear how this sounds compared to a actual box. I have played for a good number of people, & I do not tell them what I have. They like what they hear, then I open the trunk & they are amazed at what they see compared to some of the "ghetto" systems a lot of the local youngsters try to rock with around here from Pawn Shop to Pawn Shop. ScotBear is dead-on. His IB setup is insane. He has a very very similar car to mine, & built an IB setup into a wall. Be sure to check out his Build Log ... Bullz Audio ...): Little comparison of new cable to go in ... not only runs front to back, but ALT to BATT, too. soundstream15 Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 How's that alt? I have a grand am 2.2 and I think I may get the same alt, running 3500rms tho. But for 300$ it's pretty good plus mechman from what I hear, is very good
Sutliff Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 How's that alt? I have a grand am 2.2 and I think I may get the same alt, running 3500rms tho. But for 300$ it's pretty good plus mechman from what I hear, is very good It is excellent, ... as you can see by the VAT slip above, a 170A rated ALT outputting 166A at 2700rpm with none of the system on, & a Big 3 out of 4awg. Now my Big 3 is 1/0, though I need to clean it up a bit, then take it back & see what it is at same conditions, & then with some good system draw on it. See if I cannot get that last 4A out of it, maybe even close to the 176A MechMan got on their testbed, ... though I am sure my electrical is nothing compared to theirs. Thank you for stopping by. Anything other questions you have, fire away. If I can answer them, I surely will. Sutliff Posted July 18, 2013 Author Report Posted July 18, 2013 Need to replace the Tsunami underhood 100A CB. It seems to be a rather decent product, as I run them out back - one on each amp - but just is not good with engine heat, etc., & the little flipper/re-setter simply would not stay attached to body of breaker. #Ugh. If this RF works out, I will likely replace the ones out back with same: Going back to an OEM side-post set-up, & going to use this XS Power 580 brass kit to mount terminals on for accessories, etc. Also pictured are steering wheel volume/seek CNTRLs ... the factory paint-like rubber covering on these is notorious for coming off just by looking at it cross-eyed ... vs. finding a set of NOS, $15 shipped for these from a buddy is pretty good: Zeke '14 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Vehicle Details & Mod List: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/1703-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/ Audio Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143276-2003-chevy-monte-carlo-ss-audio-build-ib-build Pioneer FH-P8000BT Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Fi IB3 (Two 12", 2-ohm SVC) RF T400-2 & T500-1bdCP MechMan S Series 240A XS Power D3400 & D975

Sutliff Posted July 27, 2013 Author Report Posted July 27, 2013 Took the Monte to the Syracuse Nationals this past Sunday. The orange 65 Ford F-100 behind me is my very good friend Adam's. Sutliff Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Well I got some help, & got down to brass tacks over the past week, & got the Monte re-wired, & a few other upgrades done/completed ... now I can enjoy what I have built for, hopefully, many stress-free years to come. Started disconnecting cables & terminals, etc., ... I needed to get the BATT out ... This was one of the shitty, side-mount Kicker terminals I had been using for over a year ... From here you can see where I ran the ALT to BATT "Big 3" cable ... & at the time, all I had of 1/0 black/semi-frosted ... & to utilize it with those Kicker terms, I used a Knu Konceptz 1/0 ----> 4awg reducer. Not the best option, I know, but I know it was better than the 4awg of Bullz Audio crap I had built my first "Big 3" out of ... *** EDITED IN 2014 BECAUSE PHOTOBUCKET SCREWED UP MY LINKS *** Zeke '14 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Vehicle Details & Mod List: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/1703-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/ Audio Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143276-2003-chevy-monte-carlo-ss-audio-build-ib-build Pioneer FH-P8000BT Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Fi IB3 (Two 12", 2-ohm SVC) RF T400-2 & T500-1bdCP MechMan S Series 240A XS Power D3400 & D975
