Papaslim Posted May 29, 2012 Report Share Posted May 29, 2012 just curious as to what is the difference in sound between 4th order and ported. to make it a little easier let's say that the 2 boxes are being compared in my truck on a Skar SK-1500 with 2 VVX15s. SmallTruk Posted May 29, 2012 Report Share Posted May 29, 2012 My personal experience with the same sub and amp in a ported and 4th order was the 4th had noticible increase in punchiness and smoother low end, I'm assuming just due to the sealed portion and the added control of the cone it adds. However if u did a 4th with its specs, your box would have to be very very large....and peak around hi 20s to 30 Hz and not have much 50-60 Hz range unless the S of the box was lowered which would lower sound q and degrade low end.
