IndianaBassHead Posted June 2, 2012 Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 What's up guys? Got a quick question. I have a mechman 270 amp alt in my tahoe and a d3400 under the hood. I also have the big 3 and 2 runs of wire to the second battery in the back. All the wiring is knukonceptz. I'm only running 3875 watts and I'm still getting voltage drop bad at idle. Any suggestions as to why this would be happening? I'm honestly not sure if the voltage drops while driving because I haven't looked yet. I just got my digital volt meter in so I'll hook it up asap. Hotdog Posted June 2, 2012 Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Take your RPM up to 1500 and see if you drop. Alternators don't do full power at idle that is why a lot of competitors will ramp up their idle when in the lanes, so the Alt puts out more power.
