Wanting to upgrde my Video card.

Recommended Posts

So I never ever play computer games...last game I ever played was Diablo II....well I went and picked up Diablo III. I tried running the game with all the FX settings maxed out and my computer ran it slow as fuck. I dont know if I just need a better video card or what but any help is appreciated.

***I AM NOT LOOKING TO REBUILD MY ENTIRE COMPUTER SO PLEASE DON'T SUGGEST IT***

Here is what I have:

HP HPE-137c http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01969872&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN#N217

IPIEL-LA3 motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor

8 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD4350

300w power supply

I don't know if any other specs matter, but follow the link for full specs. Like I said I hope I can just get away with a better graphics card but I am open to other suggestions about minor upgrades. Also I use HDMI so any card that is suggested please make sure it has HDMI output. Thanks

I have two GTX 560 ti's 1gb cards. I only have one in at the moment as i only have a single 23" led. I can run bf3 on high. Runs on ultra but drops to high 30fps at times when online. on high i get 70+. They are really good cards and can take a beating. Not bad for the price ether. But some come pre overclocked. apparently a lot of people have trouble with them and have to un overclock them.

If i over clocked my single 560 i can run ultra with 60fps but im not comfortable with it as i have a new case and still in the process of adding fans. oh and it has two dvi's and a mini hdmi.

Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at.

I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k.

you should be able to pop in any card that is PCIE x16 or PCIE x1 just make sure your power supplly can handle it. otherwise you may need to get a new power supply as well

Is it really that intense? I have a copy unopened that im gonna sell coz it was a gift but i kinda want to see how GPU hungry it is now. I don't enjoy these types of games but didn't expect it to be that intense compared to a FPS game.

Nvidia's GT 640. Requires NO PCIe 6 or 8-pin plugs. Pulls solid FPS in Diablo 3 even at highest settings. I'd feel more than confident telling you that you could run it without requiring a power supply upgrade.

If you want to save money, the Radeon 6670 offers up slightly lower performance but costs $30+ less.

wtf is lolcats?

I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers.

I was hoping for 150 :(.

I was hoping she would let me put it in her butt

Any suggestions for a better power supply? I would love to stay as inexpensive as possible, nut I don't want junk either. The only thing I really use my computer for is the internet and music.

Thanks for everybodys input too.

Pick up a Corsair CX600, it will handle all but the most high-end single graphics card setups. I build PCs for a living, you can't beat Corsair/Seasonic for power supplies and their awesome warranties. When you do pick a GPU, I'd go with EVGA. They have THE best warranty support out there as far as graphics go and I would hate to see you have a bad time getting a DOA card and not being able to return it as it does happen.

I'm gonna hate

Much more GPU power than that or say a GTX 560 Ti will only lead to your processor becoming a bottleneck. You could overclock your processor to remedy this but that requires an aftermarket motherboard, cooling, and a lot of knowledge and patience. Since you have an older PC I would definitely NOT bother with it all.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you have ANY questions I can help with everything PC related!
