tbake223
Hey guys im working on figuring out where i want to be at tuning wise with my build. --RE SXX 10 d2 --Hifonics brz 1200.1 at 1 ohm. Im looking for a good all around daily driver with a possibility of a comp once in a blue moon. My current prefab box is garbage and is tuned at 46 hz and like .89 net cubes after displacements i figured out. Im aware but i got it for free. My new build will be 1.28 cubes net with 2 3" (rather than 1 4") because that puts me at 11 port area per foot. Aeros req 9-13 not 12-16. My question to everyone is will i be disappointed with tuning to 35hz vs 32hz as far hip-hop goes?? Ports can get $$ so im looking for some help from experience. My re seems like it can hit nice and low but my current box holds it back. My other option would be to make a box build at like 1.6 cubes tuned lower but would have less port per foot. (9ish) Anyone have a preference which they liked better throughout their various builds? I wish i could just build both and try em out but im a poor college student ( Edited June 10, 2012 by tbake223 02 Ford Focus ZX3 hatch 4-Infinity Kappa 682.9cf's DC Lvl 4 Hifonics BRZ 1200.1 @ 1 ohm Kicker Wires Rockford RCAs Future Upgrades Knu 1/0 XS Power D1200 80 mil audiotechnix B stock
RooTxBeeR
I think if you want more of a hip hop, tune lower. Rap and hip hop generaly go lower than other genres. bassface
I show a 4" port as being 12.56 square inches and 2 3" ports as being 14.13 square inches.
tbake223
yes but you look at the range which is between 12-17, the more port you have up till 17 generally the more spl u are supposed to have (depending on the woofer). I guess yeah i want to be tuned lower but i want it to be loud too 02 Ford Focus ZX3 hatch 4-Infinity Kappa 682.9cf's DC Lvl 4 Hifonics BRZ 1200.1 @ 1 ohm Kicker Wires Rockford RCAs Future Upgrades Knu 1/0 XS Power D1200 80 mil audiotechnix B stock

tctdh11
I'd tune in the low 30 range 30-32. Also have you thought about just doing a slot port? Only reason I suggest that is so you can get your port area up. On the boxes I do I generally tune low 30 range w/ 17-19 per. Would be much happier that way IMO TEAM DC www.dcsoundlab.com 2003 Tiburon GT V6 6 Speed Ported Clam 6 12" DC Audio XL M2's 2 American Bass 1100.1 1 American Bass 350.4 3 D3100, 1 D975, 3 D925 Second Skin Damp Pro and Spectrum.
