EdgarG0721
Just bought a router now looking for some bits I saw a ryobi kit for 20 bits for 75$ what should I look for in router bits?
HunterJohnson
Nice bits that will last you a life time. I like the routers with ball bearing under the tip. Personally I like diablo bits from home depot because I can return them if something happens Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
Pasta Prime
Router bits can get expensive but the must have's for me are a spiral up cut bit, a 1.5" round over bit, and flush trim bits. I have bought cheap Harbor freight bits and have no issue with them at all. New build coming........ Pasta Prime
I bought cheap ones and haven't had them die yet. I have only used them on two boxes so far though. but for $5 a bit at harbor freight its already paid for itself. New build coming........ HunterJohnson
Cheap ones are just there to use once in a while I use my bits on 10's of boxes, cabinets, shelves. If you're doing one box you can't beat a $5 bit Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
kingsuv
I would be cautious on the cheap bits. 1st off they don't last near as long as a quality bit. Woodcraft has the Whiteside brand that last and have a very good price on them. 2nd is, you will never use a cheap bit again when one breaks and stabs you in the chest. personal experience and I was as lucky as can be I like to use a DOWN spiral bit when cutting holes in a box. The reason is the cutoff are blown back into the box and not up at your face Use the up cut when working with a router table. As it cuts, it helps hold the piece your cutting down to the table. Either a 3/8 or 1/2 roundover bit for the edges. For flush trim bits, I like to use ones with a 1/2 shank. They seam to last much longer then the 1/4 The bearings on the 1/4 just burn out to fast IMO Once you get those 3 or 4 bits, the other stuff is added as you get more creative. I use a 45 edge bit quite a bit for shaping and Rabbiting step bits now and then. i use my router very often and have tried a good number of bits in the market. I'm also a cheap ass and don't like to spend more then I have to on shit either. Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
