As far as glue goes try contacting a local plastics fabricator or even a fish tank maker. Ever seen Tanked? You need the glues that basically fuse the two pieces together. I don't think using Lexan would be of much benefit, plus youre basically screwed if you scratch it. Plexi can be buffed, Lexan can't.
