Amart88 Posted June 12, 2012 Report Posted June 12, 2012 Yesterday i was playing e40 - Back in business and I had my deck on its max undistorted volume, 31. and the bass was crazy loud, actually felt it in my throat. I looked at the song aferwards and its was at -0.8db. My system is set at -5db. So having it on 31 would be clippping to hell and on vol 28 it's just not the same. Is there anyway to get the bass that loud without clipping? My HU is a Kenwood Excelon kdc-x595. 2 Fi n2 15's on 2 Crescendo BC3500's. Also, all the settings on the deck are at 0. Bass level, bass boost and that stuff. Thanks My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.

Blackedout Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 Wouldn't be too concerned about it. Not all songs are going to be perfect. They are all set to different DB levels, your gain is set in the right ballpark. Keep tabs on how warm your equipment is gettin on songs like that and watch how long you play full tilt for. The clipping induces heat. Heat ruins your equipment. If its not getting hot, you are good. Trunk Build Log

I am overpowering the woofers by quite a bit. I always check them to see if they are warm. Sometimes after playing full tilt for a bit the get slightly warm but not "hot". I back off and let them cool for a few. Also Cableguy, I have 2 XP3000's and a D2700 for batteries. I can't fit anymore in my car or it would bottom out lol. I am getting close to my cars "limit" for power and weight. I do plan on running 2 more btls in the future on the ssme amps. Thats about it. I was just inder the impression that if I play something over -5db that it would damage my equipment. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.
