Battery Isolator Problem

Hey guys, what's up?

i have a second battery in the trunk and i ran an isolator to it because i didn't want the two batteries to discharge each other since the one in the back is a kinetik and the one in the front is some crap from autozone.. i wanted to replace the front battery with a kinetik too but the problem is that my car is european and the positve and negative leads are reversed making it impossible to put a kinetik in the front without having to extend the cables, plus the battery is too tall to fit anyway.

i temporarily ran the turn on lead from my headunit to the turn on lead on the isolator and the isolator was running fine for months now but recently i have been getting a problem where the isolator wouldnt activate when i turn on my head unit leaving the two batteries disconnected with no charge going to the back.. idk what's causing it.. even putting a constant 12v on the turn on lead isnt activating it.. anyone have any ideas?

Not quite a solution to your problem: but how about ditching the isolator and getting an upgraded front battery, or just disconnecting it altogether?

i think i might just put the extra money down and upgrade the front battery. Disconnecting it sounds like a lot of work unless i use a circuit breaker. i was just wondering if there were any easy fixes. thanks a lot tho.

In my Jeep Wrangler build I did, I had 4 batteries in the back and the stock one up front. I disconnected the stock one (just pulled the negative terminal off) and my voltage improved by a half volt, hence why I suggest disconnecting it.

Quick and dirty way is to pull off the negative terminal and wrap it in a rag so it doesn't touch the battery

isolators went out of style 5 years before capacitors did.

ditch it. If your battery in back sucks that bad, ditch it too. Do it right or don't waste your time broham. I know its not cheap but you are better off with one good battery by itself... then one good one and one bad one.

Holy shit. That's a a pretty big increase! I think i will get a new battery asap tho because i don't want to have to disconnect the battery all the time.

You're so right. Now I have a $40 paperweight to look at tho lol. I'll look into buying a new battery unless you would like to donate one or two to me from your arsenal
