Yeah, I'd raise the tuning to 40-45 and shrink the box to around 3 cubes.

Play around with the tuning lots, and FLARE the PORT. :D

Okay. I'll throw this into the hat.

How about 3 cubes net, one 6 inch aeroport, tuned to 45hz.

Subs up, port to the driver side. A nice tall box not flat like the current one.

I think you may be losing spl because you have too much port per cube.

Now if you had a very small car, not so much. But in the Forester, maybe.

With the aeroports you only need 10-12 square inches of port per cube.

With the 8in. you have more like 20 square inches per cube.

I think that causes the unloading, and reduces the output.

Try just putting a 6 inch aero in there tuned to 45. See what happens.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

So it fell apart then? That was the noise in the box wasn't it?

That sucks!

Nope. It was the sub. Screws pulled through the top plate. That sub always made a bit of a ticking noise, but I always thought that was from the cone not being centered. And I'm having big time deja-vu right now too

Were those subs rebuilt at some point?

So the threaded holes in the top plate stripped? That would be fixable.
