problem in a nutshell: sub wont work.

long problem:

i have a simple doubledin touchscreen with RCA's --> 7band cadence EQ, then --> my amp.

remote --> EQ + capacitor (zzz i know) --> amp.

amp, and cap both turn on, have power etc. but the woofer wont play.

whats the prolem' here??

edit: took a look at the VC, and the coil still looks to be fine.

Have you checked to make sure the coils are good on the sub? Take a dmm and see what the coils read. Also check to make sure all the wires are connected right.

i'd have to wait to see where my dad put his dmm but the coil looks fine

and the wiring is correct

p1 --> p2 --> amp

n1 --> n2 --> amp

Coil can look fine, but still be bad. Try taking a 9volt battery and touching it to the wires for the sub and see if the sub moves. It's called a "pop" test.

Have you turned on the sub output?

Is the sub output turned up to max?

Is the gain on the sub amp turned up enough to get sound?

First thing to do is check and make sure all sub controls on the H/U are turned on and up.

Next is the sub and check with a small amount of power from a 9v, 14v baterry or battery pack as a quick way of testing the sub.

If those are working and you still have nothing then work down the line with rca's and eq as possible problems.

Ok now that we know the coil is fine, have you used the amp before on another speaker? If you have an iPod, you can use a headphone jack-RCA out adapter and hook those straight up to the amp an see if your amp is working right.
