I had a box laying around at 6.5 cubes net tuned to about 34hz and my buddy bought it from me for his pair of jl audio w7 12 on 2400rms. I had doubts at first but he really insisted on wanting it. He installed them and man o man have not heard better sounding subs yet than those w7 and that box absolutely destroyed with lows and with SQ. To get to the point i think you should ask around a forum that runs them a lot and if anything get a box with at least 2-2.75 cubes net each and tune low. But you could do this cheaper if you did it yourself, and learn something in the process. I have build only about 10 boxes, but each one gets straighter, sounds better, and looks cleaner as i go.
