b-dubs89 Posted June 30, 2012 Report Share Posted June 30, 2012 my advice on the wx subs is don't . i picked up a pair of 12wx's last winter and built a ported box for them that was pretty close to jl spec , hard to be exact because i did fiberglass baffle . any way they aren't terrible subs but i resold them after a month of owning them . i do have some jl audio 13w1 subs and they are pretty decent all around high and low . my wx setup was powered by a mono block rated 500 watt rms at 2 ohm , my sense is that this amp delivered rated wattage . Unless you pay NASA to design your sub box, and you're going for all out SQ- truly uncolored bass reproduction, the name of the game for box design is sealed. i dont agree with this, some drivers aren't designed for sealed boxes. IB or the one i forget the name of...its got the hole in the back with the membrane over it that allows for some air to pass through if enough pressure is built up...i forget the name of it though. Yes, in general, sealed is way easier to get good sound out of with the least effort into designing the box, but ill take a properly designed ported box over sealed any day. And if i ever go with a full SQ setup, ill probably run IB woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port...
