More power more cubic feet?

But when yous makez a smaller box, it less efficance, so it can sometimes comtradicts the more powers.

It can also drastaticly change the freq response. So now instea of hittin 40 Hz, might just hits 50.

Unless you are hard core competin and burping, just design the box for what you need and apply the correct amounts of watts with the correct subsonic filter setting.

That is what I was trying to get at with different volume comes higher Hz response I got an idea with using more air space.

I'm thinking along the lines of a cone inside of a cube, but space is an endless playground

I always design boxes based on the frequency response I am looking for. Then power it accordingly. Selecting the correct tuning frequency and the subsonic filter can control the mechanical excursion.

It all depends on what you are expecting from the design and what you plan on doing with it.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

hahaha, good ol SMD. people talk shit about the OP (not that it wasnt justified) then the OP doesnt reply fast enough so the shit talkers turn on each other. it never fails lol.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

I guess I have to draw and build more to understand what amount of air contained will produce what hz

Or download something as simple as the ported spreadsheet on diysubwoofers.org and experiment. Input your favorite subwoofer's t/s parameters and look at different box parameters. It will give you frequency response, output, and excursion plots.

as Ed mentioned you should just keep the box the same if it already sounded good...and just increase the power...

now unless your going to be throwing a Shit Ton (that's slightly more than a Ton and less than an Ass Load) of power then you should be fine with the same enclosure

if your going for the Shit Ton or Ass Load category then you should decrease the volume of your enclosure

How much Wattage is the begining of a Shit Ton and when does the transfer to an Ass Load happen wattage wise ?
