Daniel Shepard
May seem like a stupid question, but did you touch the multimeter leads together and see what it showed before you checked the sub? My buddy had a similar issue, thought he had a blown SA15, ordered a recone, read the same... checked the leads and found out his cheap DMM was just off. When I touch them together it reads 1.5?? Well there's your problem, that means that your sub is actually reading 1.9. So you are fine XD
bass_stalker
well theres your problem, your dmm is really off, take whatever reading you get and subtract that 1.5 Quote JEEP BUILD PROJECT ANTIBLING.2000 jeep Cherokee.HEADUNITAlpine Cda-9886SUBSTAGE1 acendent 18" audio mayhem motor with a TI basket and tantric parts1 prototype DAT hellfire 1000.1HIGHSStockELECTRICALdb link 0 gaugeKnuconceptz Kolossus 4 gauge1 xs power d3400 under hoodBig 3 upgradeold fourwheeler build The only way to delete your SMD account is for you crawl to steve meades door step on your knees and pleade for his forgiveness and acceptance to be released...He will either grant your wishes.....or choke you with a large piece of 0 gauge and electrocute you by hooking up a solid gold DC 12k at 0.000001 ohm and 10000 volts to your eye sockets and blow your head apart You guys act like you have never clogged a toilet and ran around the bathroom frantically hoping it don't overflow. OrionStang
DMM leads aren't the problem, its just simple math. You have a d2 sub. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Daniel Shepard
D2's? Seriously?? I guess I never thought of that. So it should read 0 when touched together? Its just a cheap harbor freight mm but has never given me fits. its set on 200 in the ohm setting of the meter.
CJ18
You are good bro you have a good d2 sub.
OrionStang
Most all meters have some resistance when the leads touch. Take that number from the number you get from the coils. 3.4-1.5=1.9=d2 sub. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Daniel Shepard
I have some beat up sony subs laying around, single 4. my meter reads 4.8? Thats not a full 1.5 off?? Edited July 16, 2012 by Daniel Shepard
andale927
I have some beat up sony subs laying around, single 4. I just when and ohm them and they read 4.8? Thats not a full 1.5 off The impedence of a woofer is more of a ballpark, if you look at the sony's t/s it is probably 3.5ish DC resistance.
