Riley Evan Houser
Alright everybody.. Was driving to work and enjoying my subs and was just thinking.. I'm more of a SQ guy..not saying anything bad about SPL but I just enjoy lows so my box is tuned to 29-30hz. But what I was wondering was, what would happen say.. If you had two of the same subs, two of the same amps and each subs being powered on their own.. If you had one in it's own box tuned to 30hz and the other in a seperate box tuned to 40-45hz. Would you then get the best of both worlds? What would happen? And.. Would it be a bad idea if you have the space? I actually did something similar to this once, and it didn't sound that bad honestly. But then I built a new box, single chamber, with the proper port and air space, and the SQ blew me away! Not to mention I was a full 2 db louder on the TermLab. So yeah, you can do it, and it may work, but it's not ideal. 412 CVX
You'd have to cross them over separately. honestly you're just better off doing some midbass to fill in the voids that the subwoofer leaves. Chad Wilkins
I remeber reading, a long while ago, about an sq guy who built a box with a actuator that would close up the port.. Something like that seems more the way to go to me Edited August 5, 2012 by Chad Wilkins
RooTxBeeR
There was a truck that just got sold i believe, that had 2 18's and 2 15's. Did 150's at any frequency all day long.
