ehh what the hell went wrong? need help

ok guys here is my prob, i wanna say i know the answer but ill let you guys decide, the ground wire i had for my battery/amp i replaced bc when i soldered it i did it wrong, i could move the wire and the solder would move as well so i replaced it with the wire i was using for my alt + to battery + i got it off a guy and it was soldered correctly so i dont have wire from my alt to battery i just have the stock wire witch is 12g so i replaced my ground with that, i moved the ground over a hair and used self taping screwes and star lock washer, its tight as hell, thats how i had the old ground as well, now here is the prob, i turned my car on and my volt meter was reading 12.5 so i took a dmm and did the battery and it said the same thing, went under my hood and checked the alt to battery to see if it was charging it and all it was saying was 1 so i have no idea why that is, i did my battery under the hood and it said 12 but went to 13, when i shut the car off and when back to read my back battery it was reading 13, why is this going on? is it bc the stock wire is to small to charge it or what, when i did everything the back battery was disconnected

You need to ground your battery much better than with 12 gauge and a self tapper. And wait are you saying there is no connection between your alternator and battery?

Alt isn't connected in the circuit simple as that, check you alt + connections.

im using 1/0g and self taper with star lock washers is actually really well, i used 2 of them for a good solid contact. the 12g stock wire is from the alt + to battery +

i put the dmm on alt + then battery - and it was reading 1

i have no clue how the alt was not connected, i followed the stock wire and could not find it, it must of been like that for a long time, i found wire and its working

Putting your dmm on alt positive should be no different than putting it on batt positive. Your batt pos should be connected to alt pos therefor you should be reading the batt voltage unless car is running then you'll be reading alt voltage. Your connections are bad. Check them.

Are you saying that the positive alt to bat wire is an old 12ga ground wire that has a loose solder joint? You really want to fix that asap. At the very least resolder the terminal.
