what would you guys consider a good size box in cubic feet for 2 Sundown SA-12?

I've had fairly good results with 2 cuft per @ 33-35hz

so pretty much to spec than. do you know how they would perform ~2.5feet^3.

what would happen if i slapped them in 5feet^3 each?

2.5 is a bit large for the power you are running. I've done a 2.65 cuft design for someone before, but that was on a lot less power.

For 5 cuft each, that is just an uncalled for amount of space and you won't have great results ;)

My vvx 15's are going to have about 2.8-2.9 each..

Might want to look into SKAR because they recommend 2.2-3 each which would work space-wise for you

lol, why in the hell would you give a 12 5 cubes? and you just said you have 7 cubes total, how are you going to give them 5 cubes each?

i'm not actually going to give them that much. i was just theoretically asking how SA-12's perform in difference airspaces.
