Psu vs home amp

Recommended Posts

it depends on power, price and evereything, but for cheaper, and less power (under ~600watts) car amp, computer psu.. For large amounts of power (over 600watt) you should get a "PA subwoofer amp", or even a plate amplifier. I have used all.

Im a broke student. still manage to have a pretty good system though.. (at least i think)

I would suggest using a "home audio" receiver / amplifier for "home audio" use ... Just saying

Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co

Home receivers nowadays only communicate with the plate amp of HT subs.

I've only seen one 6(not 5.1) channel receiver with a dedicated sub channel for passive subs, and that's my Kenwood KM-X1 6 channel 600 watt rms ht power amp paired with my Kenwood KC-X1 preamp, which was the flagship of Kenwood back in 1995, mrsp was $2400 for both, I got it for $150

If you wanna power a sub in home, just buy a plate amp, psu's suck

DJ(pro audio) amps are the best way to power subwoofers for home and live application, if you plan on doing it with a car battery, be careful and keep the battery charged, its only good for around 600 watts rms until voltage drop, depending on the battery, and its not clean power by any means. even with the charger.
