Has anyone used one of these? I'm having trouble finding a used tl and cant justify spending over $600 on a new one. The spl labs meter is supposed to be within a few tenths of a tl but Im looking for some first hand opinions on them before I buy one

supposed to be as accurate as a tl but uses a different method to reach the end result. the termlab is the benchmark all others are compared to keep that in mind.

I´ve seen a few videos around , the spl lab meter it´s only 0.1 dbs different than the termlab, that´s pretty good if you ask me!!! I think drugban from russia did a test comparing both sensors, he´s a member here...

I have a spl labs handheld meter for sale on ca.com

They work well, I was very happy with it. Compared it to two TL meter. It was dead even with the IASCA 3X judges at SBN. It was 0.1 down from my friend matt's meter.

Personally I'm not a fan of TL or wayne Harris and the customer service from spl labs is amazing. The USA rep, Sean, is great.

I haven't used the USB meter so I can't comment on it, but overall the feedback is good from what ive seen.

Not sure why it would be "way off" on music? TL has different software options for when it samples and averages the music spl. That is probably the difference, how it's programed to record and average.
