Watched the video and I have heard that exact same sound before, I know what mine was and think it is same thing happening on your sub. Also how does the triple joint look? Dust cap is glued down solid all the way around? Dust cap is glued down solid all the way around? All glue joints are solid. It was built with 4 spiders just like the other 3 that have no problem. I think somehow the coil was tapping the pole. That this the only thing that makes any sense to me.
AMI CUSTOMS Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Try this, pinch the spider pack as close to the coil(former) as you can in the area the sound is coming from while it is playing free air low excursion, see if sound goes away when you apply pressure on the spider pack. If it is still there, then you could have a delaminated coil, the coil glue got hot enought that it is rubbing the pole piece. Does it make any noice when just pushing on the cone in the middle with no power applied? CJ18 Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 I already disassembled the sub. I didn't cut it out, I was able to unbolt the basket from the motor.
