kryptonite
Hey guys, i know plenty of you are running banks of multiple D3100s in your vehicles. I have a good idea of what i want to build but if you can post up some pictures of what you have, that'd be cool. I have 7 of them going in the truck so they'll need to be side by side, but any pictures would be great! Nightshade
I would but I somehow managed to cram three of them in my spare tire well and the box sits on top of them. Are you planning on doing any reinforcements due to all the weight? kryptonite
They'll be in a frame built with 1/8" 2x2 angle stock that will get bolted into the floor. I have 1.5" of birch bolted down with 16mm grade 10 bolts in the truck already. The tray should act as bracing for the floor while holding the batteries. kickass audio
Its just 4 D3100's but this is how i have it in my Envoy. The wires were cleaned up a lot better than in this picture. I just didnt have time to do it in this picture because I wanted to get it installed then worry about the small stuff after lol. I was thinking to get buss bars for them but its probably not possible as the back of the trucks floor twists a bit from the screws that hold it down to the frame so the batteries are not 100% level with one another. kryptonite
oh lol as far as weight, yeah i've got that covered. There are monroe load adjuster shocks in the back that hold 1200 lbs over the rated leaf spring weight capacity. A buddy of mine and I had 2000 lbs of scrap weight in the bed of my ranger at one point and it drove like a cadillac. Fuel economy will def suck with all the weight from the batteries, enclosure and subs but oh well, that's why i have a car too lol. That is basically how i'm going to have mine kickass, just with bars i think. haven't decided yet. kickass audio
If you can id recommend buss bars. They handle more current than power wire between each battery could and depending on how they are made for you they are cleaner looking and easier to use. There are buss bars out where you just strip back the wire, insert it into the buss bar and tighten down an allen head screw on the wire. Just like what amplifiers have for power input connections. Then if you really want to get it looking cool you can have them engrave the buss bar with something to make it stand out. My batteries perform great off having the tsunami 1/0 wire connecting them all together however if it wasnt for how the batteries arent 100% level with one another id totally get buss bars to make it cleaner back there. I would hope the suspension on a truck could handle an added 700 pounds... truck doesnt mean anything unless its a large truck like a f250 or similar a rangers stock suspension isnt the greatest with the weight of the box and what not....as he stated after my post he has some upgraded suspension parts Quote 1 Fi Sp4 18 Crescendo 2k selenium mids audioque supertweets Hifonics for mids and and highs 1/0 power and grounds ---> on the way singer alt and possibly another 2k depending how sub likes 1 2k
kryptonite
even without the load adjusters, i would be able to carry the weight, it would just sag a bit. The load adjusters keep the truck level after about 1500 lbs in the bed Quote DC SOUND LAB NUT HUGGERCurrently Own 4 - 18" lvl 6s (m3) w/full Carbon Fiber option 2 - DC 5k lvl 4 motor lvl 2 motor On 8/2/2013 at 8:13 PM, n8ball2013 said: this is much worse.
