I had a massive air leak with my ports, and no time to tune before the show, but the numbers were ok. I got a 145.5 dB and 145.7 dB (both sealed on the dash), and a 148.1 dB (hardcore, mic in kick). Took home 2-2nd place finishes and a 1st place finish. mikelbolton Posted May 5, 2015 Author Report Share Posted May 5, 2015 Well guys, I enjoyed this weekend. Went up to VA and hung out at the TDH show. I got my SMD VM-1 installed. Got my new Sky High fuse blocks and ran my second run of 1/0. I finally tuned the amp properly. Having the second run of 1/0 definitely helped keeping up my voltage. I'm happy with the results. 149.58 dB (sealed, forgot to move mic, mic in kick). Hardcore- 149.97 dB.... So close.... I enjoyed TDH, over 880 cars and 130+ competitors (IIRC). New Stickers (had to add DBz, right) I rebuilt the enclosure probably a month ago or so... This was how everything looked in the car before the rebuild... My wife drives the car one day.... and says the back seats need to go!!!! So, while I had the car tore down for troubleshooting (turned out to be a bad battery), I did this... I cut a steel frame to lay out everything... #WhoAintGotNoWelds... Finally going to have a spare tire again... (just means that I need more batteries) Cut out and rounded over the holes for the fans... Moved the batts over behind the driver's seat... so I could mount the fuse block upright She's gettin' closer... And here's the money shots!!! (don't mind the ports... Well, I've been busy plugging away at work and school, so this season has kinda sucked... I'm currently running my 2- 12" Mayhems, on a Rockford T1000-BDCP, while I wait on my 4 CAB-1600's to come in. I really need to start a build log for my truck too, since the wife will have a system in there soon... One of my latest projects was to put a temperature sensor in the amp to let me know before things get too hot. I had been running a surface mount sensor on the chassis of the amp for awhile now, but I wanted this one inside to tell me the temperature that the mosFETs (well, technically the heatsinks/clamps for the FETs) are seeing. This should be able to give me an early warning if something has gone wrong. Here's a nice pic of the amp guts... (sorry, photobucket wasn't letting me rotate the pic). Then we take a simple little temp probe, like pictured below. Attach it to the mosFET clamp like so... Drill out the faceplate, and route the wire through. Slap the top cover back on the amp, and we have ourselves a nice little package. Route the cable through the car, then crimp these little boogers on and terminate the cable. And success... The meter shows me the temp... Keep in mind this is merely a working prototype.
