mikelbolton
I'm looking to make another enclosure for my Type- R's. I currently Have 2- 10" Alpine Type-Rs in a sealed box. Approx .7ft3 per sub. I'm running these subs on a Hifonics BRZ2400.1d wired in 1-ohm configuration. Looking to put them in a ported box. This will be going in a 2011 Aveo hatchback. I'm thinking subs up, port up. I'm looking at 3.53ft3. Dimensions of the box will be: 27W*18H*16L 2- 3" round ports 5.5"L Tuning freq comes to 35.67Hz port disp .05ft3 net vol 3.48ft3 gross vol 3.53ft3 port area range 31-45in2 port area- 7.07 in2 port area per ft- 2.03in2 This will be about the best configuration for me, as I will not have to move the amplifier. I currently have the sealed box and amp mounted on a sheet of mdf in the hatch now. I can roll the seats forward and access the spare tire easily with the current setup, and wish to maintain that ability with these subs. Please double check my math, and let me know if this setup is worth building, or if I should leave the setup in the box it's in. Joe X
Your port area is off and your net volume high, for your vehicle I would suggest the following if you can fit the small increase in external dimensions: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 35 Hz Vb = 2.24 ft^3 External Height = 17 in External Width = 26 in External Depth = 15 in Port Width = 2 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Top & Bottom = 26 x 15 Left & Right Sides = 13 1/2 x 15 1/2 2x Front = 12 x 15 1/2 Back = 26 x 15 1/2 Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts: 2 x Front to Back = 12 1/2 x 15 1/2 2 x Extension = 9 1/4 x 15 1/2 Let me know any questions. 412 CVX
you're going to put 600 watt rated TENS getting twice their rated power in a 3 cubic foot box? Maybe if these were DD's or AQ's but certainly not alpines. Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid. Joe X
Sorry, these are swr-1042d type-r's. 2-500 rms 1500 peak. Changed the above for 2 x SWR-1042D, hope you understand the kind of amp power you are dealing with, set the subsonic filter to 30-31 Hz. Your attention to detail is lacking significantly. If I hadn't caught that, it would've gone unnoticed. Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. Semper
It's a brz series, the claimed wattage is rated at 14.4V. He won't be playing music @ 14.4V, not to mention box rise. 412 CVX
You can't rely on Impedance rise. It changes with every frequency. Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.
