flashlight_65
Got my Kydex today and after a quick overview I'm gonna need a lot more rivets (cause I know there'll be a few casualties) plus it gives me an excuse to get some more Kydex. Now to make a holster/knife press and a jig to make some belt loops. I'll see what I can put together tonight. flashlight_65
Found some scrap wood laying around at work and an old piece of foam mat. It's all marked and ready to cut tomorrow to make my rinky dink noob kydex press. Got an old toaster oven that was left for dead free too. As you can see there's a catch (that ain't Teflon on the bottom) Gotta let that bitch soak. (maybe I should start a new thread?) flashlight_65
Taking a break to eat but here's the progress so far. Cut kydex to desired size Preheat to 225 and warming the foam. Once it reached temp slowly raised it to 350 then quickly slapped it down. (I'm glad I outlined the pistol beforehand) Waited 5 minutes and slowly pulled it apart and got this. flashlight_65
The planned rivet layout Trace and cut Get a good cut in and you can break it clean So now comes the fun part, cutting the top. Gonna use a spiral cut bit for that. The plan now is to drill a hole in each corner and just screw it together that way I can sand the edges uniformly. I'll rivet after the rough sand cause I figure if I do it now and end up sanding too close I'll either A.) Fuck up the edge and leave nothing for the rivets to hold B.) Fuck up and nick a rivet C.) Fuck up and make the edge uneven D.) Fuck up completely with all of the above. So, I'll rivet afterwards. Kydex is pretty easy to work with but even easier to fuck up. Leo1103
how are you going to modify the ejection port and trigger guard on the holster so you can remove the gun? Or is it just going to snap into place? 2002 Honda CR-VAlpine 9887My BuildRebuilding...
