Fi Q 15" Ported Box 3.1 cu. ft. @ 32.5 htz I think

Recommended Posts

I would use the full depth of 24" in Torres.

Then instead of entering 19.25" external port, figure the volume of the 2 "notches" to remove and enter into bracing displacement.

I came up with .247 cu ft for the 2 notches. (2.5" x 4.5" x 19") twice

1 common port wall.

Looks like 2.87 cu ft @ 34.00 hz ----- bump your wood up to 3/4" and it gets smaller

On a side note, I see you're using Inventor. So do I - and to figure the volume of a complex box I make a dummy model/part of just the interior air space. Let it tell you.

You have a number of issues, use of 0.5 wood with that powerful sub may be a bad idea, keeping your external dims I would recommend this instead:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 32.15 Hz

Vb = 2.9 ft^3

External Height = 20 in

External Width = 23.75 in

External Depth = 19.5 in

Port Width = 2 3/8 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 23 3/4 x 19 1/2

Left & Right Sides = 18 x 17 3/4

Front & Back = 23 3/4 x 17 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Top to Bottom = 15 3/8 x 18

Extension = 12 x 18

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

PUSUDB.jpg

But if you have space for a somewhat larger box, that would be best.

You don't even know the power he's running or the car it's going in.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

More box builds

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

^^^And my disclaimer - I am only helping determine the volume of OP's suggested box.

Reply to all, thank you for all the input I didn't think I would get this much help. I am squeezed for space! The port on my drawing fits in between two backseat brackets. If you can picture the top of this box that is what it must look like. I will update torres when I get home.

Oh i know how a 12v system works I did take 3 years of electronics in High school hands on and some in college and also worked on cars in college an always got A's to B's in each class.

But oh well enough dealing with ppl who have probably not even lived as long as ive been into electronics!

I never thought of the bracing displacement suggestion. Thanks for that idea! Thanks for the inventor tip as well. I am going to update it.

I appreciate your input a lot man but the max dimensions are 20x19.3x19.5

The port extends the 19.5" length 4.5 (unless it will only fits narrower as you made it).

sorry, yes it must follow the exact form the box I created follows. It is 20x19.3x19.5 (subtract the two 4.5x2.5x20 parts beside the port)

Ok. Here is the updated torres design.

Only thing is I am unsure of to leave the external port or to put in 19.5"

I like the second one better. I'd personally tune to 32-33 with more port area. keep in mind, you can still play below tuning.

Unfortunately, it's internal - the first one.

You are now using the full 24" for the depth and the port is inside that.

Additionally I did this earlier at work where I have the old version of Torres.

I got the numbers in my post above - 2.87 ft @ 34.00 hz

I can check again tomorrow, but I'm sure I had all the same numbers in there.

When did you download Torres? He has made a couple recent fixes, but I'm not sure what they are.
