all4spl Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Ok, I want to increase my power, however the amp I choose has to be able to survive on my electrical which I will describe. Stock alternator 95amps, yes low I know. (3) 35AH Batteries (950CA each), 1 up front with 2 in the rear. 0 gauge big three with 0 gauge ran to the rear (1 strand), 0 gauge between all batteries and 0 gauge direct to the sub amp, ground is also 0 gauge. The load presented to the amp will be .7ohm nominal, no clue about rise yet as my enclosure will be rebuilt. My listening habits are pretty fair, I don't blast it per say more than 20-30mins at a time usually with breaks in between, I turn it down at stop lights etc. With that all said, 2.5k - 3.5k mono amp that fits the above. I am ready to buy, provided the amp will work with my electrical and is not in "rough" shape. Reply here with what you have, post pictures. I do not like to buy without seeing so please either post pictures or link to them. Retired from SPL again.... 2016 IASCA Truck/Trunk 2 Champion 151.8db 2016 IASCA Truck/Trunk 2 World Record Holder

ChevyBoy95 Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 if you have the money ready for 2.5-3.5k, get an alt, then an amp. all4spl Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 Ok let me clarify the Alternator, NO ONE can build me one with an ELD bypass built in. The ELD in my car is hidden way up under the dash, so a bypass of the ELD would take a LOT of time, more than I really want to do. I have been offered a built alt with a missing pin which would do the same effect, however this would lead to a constant CEL light on in my car, and that would annoy the *$@* outta me flat out. So I chose to get multiple batteries, I got the same rating for easy of installation and because of space issues in the hatch, as in I don't have a lot with my box as big as it is. So while I understand I "should" get an HO alternator before getting a beefier amp, it just isn't in the cards for my car, and I am not about to sell my car just for that reason.
