amp gain has nothing to do with volume.

you could be clipping it.

does the protect light come up on the amp when the cut out happens?

loose rca connectors at the amp?

speaker wire is hooked in tight? at the amp and at the 4 terminals on the sub?

Its the amp. Its not powerful enough. It does go into protection mode. Looks like im buying a bigger amp (smily face)

well is it protecting or not? you said two different things.

and its not the amps fault. its your fault for wiring the amp below its lowest impedance.
