ToNasty Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Im not sure what is wrong. I have a alpine mrp 850 mono amp running a dc level 4 10" m1 sub. The amp is only up about half way and when the bass starts hitting hard the sub shuts off. The amp stays on but the sub stops working. Looks like im buying a bigger amp (smily face) well is it protecting or not? you said two different things. and its not the amps fault. its your fault for wiring the amp below its lowest impedance.
soundstream15 Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 That amp is not 1ohm stable so yes you need a new amp that will handle that.
