Kidder Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Going for a mix of SQ and SPL. Using a single 15" AudioQue HDC3 (copper coils) D2. This will be going in a full size single cab pickup truck. The enclosure will be sitting between the bucket seats. Plans are to face both sub and port towards the dash (port on floor). This is my first attempt at an enclosure and my first time with the box calculator so all constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. I don't know sketchup so no picture of plans available, sorry. Sub displacement was found on another site, don't remember which site, but I have seen the number tossed around a few times so hopefully it's at least close. I listen to a variety of music but mostly rap, hip hop or anything else that drops. And if it matters it will be powered by a Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D. Supposedly 2100 watts rms @ 1 ohm @ 14.4. If I left any vital information out please let me know.

Maybe tune closer to 32-33hz? port per foot at 9.10 is way too low I'm honestly not even 100% sure what that means..

Jordan Guess Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 on torres, you usually will get a port area range due to the dimensions of the opening of the port. your port area should be inside that range for good results, although it might be just me, but i dont see a port area RANGE on your pic, only a port area. for starters, on my 15" i had 58 sq. in... to achieve the port area inside the range you need, fool with the decimals on the height of your port. also, im not sure what is suggested on your sub, but ive seen alot of people aim for 16 sq in. port area per foot on there box, which is where port length comes into play as well as tuning. i fooled with your box specs a little bit, and try the exact same numbers, but make the height 2.5 and watch how the numbers change. but the way i see it, i would try to remeasure and see if you can make your box a tad bigger for better results. i could be way off on this reply, but i just wanted to let you know where i started for my 15"

So basically just keep playing with my port and try to go a little bigger with the box overall?
Kidder Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 the tuning is fine for an aq, go bigger on the port The only reason I tuned that high is because I've heard of other people doing the same with the HDC3 (all sizes) and having pretty impressive results, I guess they work well with higher tuning? Guess i'll keep playing with the port. Thanks for the input!
