ncc74656
my friends car currently has all coax speakers. we are thinking of adding front components to the mix and going with coax in the rear doors/rear area over the trunk. he is mostly interested in quality vs volume and we plan to install a fi audio SSD 12" sub so the bass is not required from the speakers. i was looking at alpine since i think they are good and cheap but im not very sure on what else is out there. cost is a major concern here so id like some ideas or opinions on what i am thinking of. factory size is 5X7 in the 4 doors i was thinking of these for the front component: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-60c/ these for the rear doors: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/sps-517/ and these for the rear over the trunk: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-69/ should i go with a 3way 6X9 or stick with a higher wattage 2 way? im thinking of using a single 4 channel rockford for the 4 rear aspeakers and a rockford 2 channel for the front speakers. thanks for your input. nothing, gutted
CleanSierra
If I had a dollar for every time I blew a set of Alpine Type R components, I'd have 3 dollars. They sound nice, get LOUD, but they're a bit harsh when listening for extended periods of time. As I said in my other post, ditch the ovals and stay components all around. As far as the sub, it WILL be loud in the right enclosure. I remember you and your other posts about that guy that built your OTHER enclosure. I'd stay away from him in the future. Find someone to build a SIMPLE ported box for your buddy's car this time. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
ncc74656
i intend to build the box myself. i was going to go sealed to save space in his trunk and give him better clarity as well as making the build simpler. is there a major advantage to going ported for someone who is not interested in volume? nothing, gutted
AAKSOKOLD
Ovals sound terrible when really getting pushed. You can get an adapter to convert them to round components. Me & My DJ*!
BobbyG2
I hear these sound great for the money, they come with adapters to get them and the tweets to fit in 6x8 and 5x7 holes, if he wanted rear fill. http://www.parts-exp...tnumber=267-285 Here's a refurbished 4 channel: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA02D0AF1330 *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
Baydestrian
I like my RF P1652-S, got them for $90 off Sonicelectronix before they went back up to $180 then they discontinued them. Run them off HU power and they sound fantastic, I can only imagine what they would sound like when getting proper power. I would say look into Rockford, they may not be the best SQ wise but they don't sound shitty IMO and you can take into consideration that Steve is confident enough to run RF speakers in his rides 2015 Mazda 6 JVF Customz 4.0 Proto 15>Wolfram W4500 @ .5ohm 2 Sundown Neo 6.5 + 2 CT Meso Tweeters (Front) x Kicker KS6.5 (Rear)>JL Audio VX400/4i NSB-AMG35 (front) / 40ah Lithium Headway (Rear) built by Erni Audio & Electrical
ncc74656
i was unable to find a 6X9 to 6.5" for my truck, i ended up using 1/8" sheet metal and welding it to my door panel, wraping it all in dynomatt then screwing the speaker down to that. nothing, gutted
