CJ18
I made these tonight for a customer. Hopefully they make enough sense to everyone to possibly help understand why a line driver has to be properly tuned. Colin - STAPUFT
Good Vids Brother. Makes it simple to understand. I have the same type setup as your vids, but I actually have an additional device in the RCA path. HU to Bass Processor to EQ to Amps. I have to check each step along the way for clipping, but clean RCA output at 10 volts means squat if the Amp can't deal with it. spl audio1
^^ what he said cause im getting an eq/linedriver and an epic160 bass processor that im adding and since i have the standard dd1 with the basic grasp of how to use it
CJ18
I have never used an epicenter, but the process should be very similar. 1- Find maximum undistorted volume on the head unit 2- Find maximum undistorted level on any in line processor or line driver 3- Find Maximum undistorted level at each amplifier, 4 channel and/or sub amp 4- Make small adjustments on both until you reach prefect undistorted signal at the amplifier In cases such as the test I did on my bench, the maximum undistorted level that the line driver would put out was more than the amplifier would handle with the gain at 0. At this point, you back the level on the line driver/processor down until the DD1 shows no distortion. You then adjust the gain level on the amp to match. The dd1 is a great tool, it makes setting any system almost idiot proof. It allows you to go through every piece in your vehicle and make sure that you have no distortion. The end result is a perfectly tuned system. This tool SHOULD be in every installers toolbox, no matter your skill level, this tool is the finishing touch to every install.
